LED light therapy is used in skin and facial treatments. The lights penetrate the layers of your skin to inspire collagen to grow, assist with skin restoration and provide anti-bacterial qualities to fight scars left behind by acne.
Anti-aging: LED light therapy benefits tired, aging skin. It helps with the softening of lines, folds and wrinkles, healthier circulation, increased moisture and radiance, accelerated skin repair, improved elasticity and skin texture, as well as naturally stimulating the collagen process.
Hyper-pigmentation: Age spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation due to sun exposure. Most cases of skin hyper-pigmentation even out over time from the use of LED light therapy.
Acne and blemishes: LED light therapy can assist in the repair of acne and blemishes because it stimulates the skin’s natural healing process, and helps to kill bacteria caused by acne.
Frequency: The number of treatments needed varies by skin type and condition. Some people see visible results almost immediately, however noticeable changes are usually achieved in 8–10 treatments for all. The results are CUMULATIVE.
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure. It involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heals your skin and helps you look younger. The channels created by needling allows active ingredients to be absorbed by up to 300%. You might also hear it called collagen induction therapy. Microneedling may help with issues like:
Acne scars / Age spots (also called “sun spots”) / Fine lines and wrinkles / Large pores / Stretch marks / Reduced skin elasticity / Uneven skin tone / Dark spots or patches on your skin (hyperpigmentation) / Hair loss (also called alopecia)
Microneedling healing and risks:
It’s not a quick fix. It takes time to notice a difference. That’s because your body is healing itself. Most people need a few treatments before they see any change.
Healing time. It may take days or weeks to heal, depending on how deep the needles pierce your skin.
Recommended. A series of 3-6 treatments depending on skin condition and concerns.
Pain and redness. You may have some minor pain after the procedure, and your skin may be red for a few days.
Peeling. Your skin may feel tight and flake a bit while it heals.
Bruising and bleeding. There’s usually no bleeding during Microneedling. But deep Microneedling treatments may cause the skin to bleed or bruise.
Possible scarring. Microneedling isn’t a good idea for people who’ve had keloids, scars that look like large bubbles on the skin. It could make the condition worse.
Infection. Microneedling creates tiny holes in the skin, which could let germs enter, especially if the equipment isn’t cleaned well. But the risk of infection is very low. If you’re healthy, an infection from Microneedling is unlikely.
Who is NOT a good candidate for Microneedling ? If you have a history or condition of what is listed below, or if you use any medications on this list:
Keloid scars / Accutane / Injections received within last of two weeks / Scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or fungal infection / Immunosuppressed / Pregnant or nursing
History of severe eczema / Psoriasis and other chronic conditions / Herpes simplex infections (this can be managed with medication prescribed before first procedure) / Diabetes
Blood thinner / Presence of raised moles or warts on the targeted area (these can be avoided) / Cancer
Aftercare:
Avoid sweaty gym workouts or exercise, hospital settings where you might be exposed to an infection, tasks such as cleaning the bathroom, etc. for three days after the procedure.
Avoid steam, hot tubs and sunlight.
Do not use mineral sunscreen or makeup containing zinc or titanium for two days after the procedure. Try to avoid the sun during this time and use a hat instead of SPF.
No vitamin C serum or retinoids for four days after the procedure. No glycolic acid for four days after the procedure. No harsh chemicals or exfoliants for 48 hours.
Do not use anything on your skin for 90 minutes after the procedure.
Men should avoid shaving for three to four days after the procedure. You may start shaving when your skin does not feel irritated anymore.
